Carson City Morgan Dollars
by Adam Crum, Selby Ungar and Jeff Oxman. Published 2010 by Whitman Publishing.
The discovery of the Comstock Lode and subsequent events that led to the establishment of a nearby branch Mint are well documented in these pages. The Carson City Mint struck gold and silver coins bearing its unique two letter mintmark from 1870 to 1893. Some three million Morgan dollars uncovered in a 1964 government audit, mostly from the Carson City Mint, were later made available in a series of seven sales. This interesting historical info is followed by an in depth look at each date of Carson City Morgan dollars and a number of the most popular die varieties (29 different CC dollars in all) with valuations in several grades. The ten known 1900-O/CC overmintmark varieties are also covered. 124 pages.
