United States silver certificates were originally issued to boost
public acceptance of paper money and, until 1968, were redeemable for
physical silver. Although the face and back of $1 silver certificates
issued from 1935 on are similar to $1 Federal Reserve Notes now in
circulation, they're easily distinguishable by their blue Treasury seal
and serial numbers, as well as the words "SILVER CERTIFICATE" above
George Washington's portrait. Today, silver certificates remain legal
tender and have become popular yet very affordable collector's items.
Now for a limited time, Telesphere Numismatics offers a pair of $1
Silver Certificates of our choice in crisp uncirculated condition for
the low price of $11.95, a savings of 18% or more from our regular
prices. One note in each pair will be from a 1935 series (e.g. 1935 E),
and the other will be from the 1957, 1957 A or 1957 B series. Each note
is in new condition, grading CU60 or better, and is housed in its own
flexible currency sleeve.
