Whitman Publishing makes the familiar blue coin folders with
attached cardboard pages and a hole for each coin in a series, like the
example pictured on the left. Many
collectors enjoy filling the
holes as they work towards completing a set. Even someone who has only
been keeping examples of each state quarter is
bound to get the coin collecting "bug" if presented a folder or
two.
Folders
provide convenient and economical storage.
However, only
one
side of each coin is viewable, and they are not among the better
options
for long term preservation of coins. Folders may be adequate for coins
with
modest value, such as modern coins pulled from circulation.
For
coins deserving better protection and display of both sides, please see
our selection of coin albums and individual
holders.
Most of these folders have 3 cardboard pages for coins. An
attached paper page provides information about the coins, such as the
designs, artist(s), history
and composition(s) of the series. Mintages are included for each coin
through
about 1999.
