Except for soft vinyl flips, all holders offered on our web site are suitable for multi-year coin storage. None of them are completely air tight. Your holdered coins should be kept in a location with a relatively constant, moderate temperature and low humidity. Care should be excercised when handling holdered coins (particularly with any holders that are stapled).
The Intercept Shield holder includes a hard plastic shell similar to the hard plastic holder. The key difference is it also contains an insert with a material, developed by Lucent Technologies, that protects gold, silver, copper, brass, bronze and nickel coins from environmental damage. The Intercept Shield material permanently neutralizes corrosive gases in the air before they can react with coin metal. Intercept Shield coin albums and storage boxes lined with Intercept Shield material are also available at 20% or more below their suggested retail prices.
The cardboard-mylar 2x2 is the traditional staple-together holder. It's the least expensive type of holder suitable for long term storage.
