A magnification factor of up to 7x is recommended for coin grading. Higher power is used for coin authentication and die variety attribution and for examining gemstones.

Magnifiers are easily misplaced. We highly recommend using a lanyard, which consists of a woven cord and a metal clip that can be attached to one or more loupes. Wear the lanyard around your neck at coin shows, etc. for convenient access to your loupes and the assurance they will not be left behind when you move to another table.
The lanyard can be attached to any of the Hastings Triplets loupes above (pictured with a 10x) but cannot be attached to the packette magnifier.
